The government of France has donated another 2.12 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to Bangladesh through the global sharing platform COVAX “as a gesture of solidarity to the friendly country’s fight against Covid-19 pandemic”.

The new doses take the number of shots donated by the French government to Bangladesh to 5.38 million so far, the embassy in Dhaka said.

An Emirates flight carried the 3rd consignment of 2,126,100 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine doses to Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Monday late night (January 24).

The first consignment of 2.06 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine French gave to Bangladesh arrived in Dhaka on November 29, 2021 while the second consignment of 1,197600 doses of AstraZeneca doses arrived on December 19, 2021.

All the three consignments were sent from France to Bangladesh under the same COVAX facility.

The government of France has made the sharing of COVID-19 vaccines one of its priorities, in solidarity with the countries hit by the pandemic and in order to help accelerate vaccination coverage on a global scale, said a statement.
