Several thousand people have been marooned and huge croplands have been submerged as the flood situation deteriorated across the country.
Farmlands, houses and roads in Jamalpur have submerged as water level of Jamuna River has risen significantly.
Moreover, the water level of the Padma River was flowing over the danger level on Saturday. The lower areas of Munshiganj have been flooded.
On the other hand, the people around the Dudhkumar, Dharla, Brahmaputra, Jamuna, Teesta, Ghaghat, Turag, Padma, Atrai and Dhaleshwari rivers are suffering due to the flash flood.
Many flood-affected people have said that they were struggling with their cattle and valuables as the water level is increasing gradually.
However, the government aid is being ensured to the affected people in the flood-hit areas.
According to the Water Development Board, water of Padma was flowing at Bhagyakul Point in Munshiganj at 46 cm above the danger level and at Mawa Point at 9 cm above the danger level on Saturday.
District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer of Munshiganj Md Abdul Quddus Bulbul said five tonnes of rice has been allocated for six upazilas of the district in preparation for the flood.
Narendra Shankar Chakraborty, executive engineer of the district water development board, said the water level in the Padma could rise till September 7 as per the flood forecast.
Karatoya River is expected to rise by 0-10 cm compared to Saturday morning.
At present, the waters of 10 rivers are flowing over the danger level at 22 points. The lowland areas of 15 districts have been inundated by flood.
Highlighting the flood situation, the Executive Engineer of the Water Development Board’s Flood Forecasting and Warning Center (FFWC) Md Arifuzzaman Bhuiyan provided this information on Friday.
According to the FFWC, 15 districts of the country are currently affected by the floods.
Among these districts, the flood situation in Kurigram, Gaibandha, Bogura, Jamalpur, Sirajganj, Tangail, Pabna, Manikganj, Rajbari, Faridpur and Shariatpur is likely to deteriorate.
Besides, the waters of 10 rivers are flowing over the danger level at 22 points. The rivers include Dudhkumar, Dharla, Brahmaputra, Jamuna, Teesta, Ghaghat, Turag, Padma, Atrai and Dhaleshwari.
Mentioning the water level of Brahmaputra as stable, the warning center said that the water level of the river Jamuna and Padma is rising.
