Welcoming the government’s plan to bring the cable TV sector under digital network, Cable TV feed operators formed a human chain demanding five points including price fixation of set-top box.
Dhaka Metropolitan Cable TV Feed Operators formed the human chain in front of the National Press Club on Wednesday.
Speakers at the human chain said that under the government's Vision-2021, Digital Bangladesh programme is contributing to the improvement of living standards of the people of Bangladesh through formulation and implementation of various programmes including the use of information technology.

They said, “The government’s cooperation with feed operators and distributors is required to fully implement the cable TV modernisation plan within the stipulated time frame. And the fair price of the set-top box should be determined for this cooperation.”
Cable TV feed operators demanded that the sector has to be declared an industry and bank loans should be provided on easy terms.
“DTH's propaganda, satirical and defamatory advertisements against dish line should be stopped,” they said.
Best TV cable network convener Nurul Amin Chowdhury said, “We are known as feed operators under the Cable TV Act-2006. The government has formulated the Digital Bangladesh programme. Under this plan, the main goal of the government is to implement the initiative to digitalize the cable TV sector as well as to ensure uninterrupted customer service. The government’s cooperation is required to implement this goal.”
Selim Al Mahbub, joint convener of Nakshi Vision, and Mostaq Ahmed, joint convener of Galaxy Cable Network were also present during this time.
