Fire at Ctg port shed

A fire broke out at Shed No 3 of Jetty No 2 of Chattogram port on Wednesday afternoon. The fire came under control at around 7.00 pm in the evening, confirmed fire service officials.

Port Secretary Omar Faruque said the fire broke out in a shed of abandoned goods. The reason of the fire and the extent of damage could not be ascertained immediately. A 5- member probe committee has been formed to identify the cause of the fire.

According to the fire service control room, the fire started around 4 pm. Six vehicles of fire service and civil defense were working to control the fire with the port's fire fighting units.

Two ships at the jetty near the shed have been evacuated to a safe location.
