FERB gets new executive body

Forum for Energy Reporters, Bangladesh (FERB) has formed its new executive committee for the next two years.  Arun Karmaker, advisory editor of Energy Bangla and Md Shamim Jahangir, special correspondent of the Daily Sun have been elected chairman and executive director (ED) of the committee on Saturday. 

Arun Karmaker was re-elected for the second consecutive term and Md Shamim Jahangir was elected as ED of the body for the first time. Both of them were elected unopposed.

The other office bearers of FERB are vice chairman Muzahirul Hoque Rumen (Ekattor TV), director (Development and Finance) Md Lutfar Rahman Kakon (Amader Shomoy), director (Research and Training) Mahfuzur Rahman Mishu (Jamuna TV) ), Director (Data Bank) Shahed Siddique (Daily Independent), director (Entertainment & Welfare) Serajul Islam Siraj (Barta 24.com) and executive members Mollah M Amzad Hossain (Energy and Power Magazine) as well as Shahnaj Begum (Daily Observer) respectively. 

The FERB Election Board announced the names of the newly elected members at the second session of its biennial meeting at Jatiya Press Club. FERB is the only national organisation of energy reporters in Bangladesh. Against a backdrop of growing need for information of energy sector, FERB was founded on November 27, 2000, by the Dhaka-based energy reporters working for different national dailies, news agencies and national and international print and electronic media.
