FBCCI eyes $20.8b investment from Taipei summit

Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) President Sheikh Fazle Fahim today said Bangladesh has potential to get US$20.8 billion foreign investment from “Taipei Investment Summit, 2020”, reports BSS.

“Taipei Investment Summit-2020 will be held in Taipei (Taiwan’s capital) and we have identified an investment pool of $20.8 billion. Investment would come to various sectors, including in infrastructure, hospitality and automobiles. Money will come to different economic zones of the country,” he said.

The FBCCI president said this at a post-event press conference of the 33rd Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) at a city hotel, said a press release.

Sheikh Fazle Fahim informed that FBCCI and CACCI will jointly organise the Taipei Investment Summit-2020.

He said this is the first time, the CACCI conference was held in Bangladesh. Through this gathering, a vibrant network of businesspersons has been created, he added. Fahim said the conference has also created the opportunity of bringing a big amount of foreign investment to the country. Sectors including infrastructure, tourism and automobiles would get the lion share of this probable investment, he added. The 33rd CACCI Conference jointly organized by FBCCI and CACCI was held for the first time in Dhaka. This press conference was held to inform the recipients of the two-day conference. 27 member countries of CACCI including Bangladesh took part in the conference.
