Fake currency racket busted

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Sunday nabbed two members of a fake currency racket from city’s outskirts Ashulia.

Moshfiqur Rahman Tushar, Assistant Police Superintendent of RAB-1 confirmed the matter to the Bangladesh Post.

The arrestees are identified as Md Mizanur Rahman and Md Rezaul Karim.

The elite force also seized huge amount of fake notes and different equipment, which were being used for making fake notes. During the primary interrogation, the duo admitted that they were involved in manufacturing, circulating and marketing fake currency for long time.

The racket has divided their members in small groups. Some collect raw materials, some of them are involved in manufacturing while others are involved in circulating the fake notes.

Arrested Mizan confessed that he was involved in illegal drug peddling in 2012. He was arrested in a narcotic case and stayed more than one year in jail.

After getting release from jail, he formed fake currency racket three months ago.  Process was on to file case under Special Power Act, said ASP Tushar.
