Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank Ahmed Jamal on Wednesday said to establish a vibrant and robust internal control culture in our banking sector, Bangladesh Bank (BB) issued a guideline on ICC along with other core risk management guidelines in 2003 that was revised considerably in 2016.
Ahmed Jamal, also Chairman of BIBM Executive Committee said BB also made a number of modifications relating to the ICC and corporate governance of the banks to address the emerging issues or events.
He was addressing an online review workshop, organized by Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM)
Mohammed Sohail Mustafa CFA, Associate Professor & Director (Training & Certification Program) of BIBM delivered welcome address with Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman, Director General of BIBM in the chair.
Director General of BIBM said, findings of the study along with opinions and observations made today will help BB to take future actions.
Md. Mohiuddin Siddique, Professor (Selection Grade) of BIBM presented a paper on “Internal Control and Compliance of Banks” in the review workshop.
Other members of the research team are Md. Mahabbat Hossain PhD. CIPA, CSAA, Assistant Professor of BIBM; Maksuda Khatun, Lecturer of BIBM and Kamal Hossain FCA, CIPA, CSAA, Head of Internal Audit of Al-Arafah Islami Bank Limited.
Dr. Barkat-e-Khuda, Dr. Muzzafer Ahmed Chair Professor of BIBM & Former Professor of Dhaka University; Obayed Ullah Al Masud, Managing Director of Rupali Bank Limited; Mohammad Monirul Moula, Managing Director & CEO of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited; Goutam Prosad Das, Deputy Managing Director of Mutual Trust Bank Limited made comments as designated discussants.
A good number of participants including senior bank executives, academicians, media representatives, faculty members of BIBM took part in the online review workshop.
