Exchange of views on digital connectivity held in Khulna

A view exchange meeting on ‘establish digital connection (EDC)’, an ongoing project by the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), was held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner(DC) on Saturday.

Senior Secretary to the ICT Division N M Zeaul Alam addressed the meeting as chief guest while DC Md Moniruzzaman Talukder presided over it.

The senior secretary said peoples’ life style has been changing through expansion of ICT. A total of 13 crore people are now using internet and employment opportunities has been created for 20 lakhs youth in this sector, he said.

Remembering Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had established foundation to build a science and technology based Bangladesh, he said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is implementing Bangabandhu’s dream to reach Bangladesh a new height by building Digital Bangladesh. He, however, said, eight crore people has been taken Covid-19 vaccination jabs through using ‘Surakha Apps’. A total 39 eye catching Hi-Tech Parks have been set up across the country so far.

All educational institutions will be given laptop in Khulna, he said. Zeaul Alam asked the authorities concerned of the institution to ensure highest use of computer and internet facilities.

The country has already been turned into Digital Bangladesh, he said, adding that everybody should work with utmost sincerity to implement the vision for smart Bangladesh by-2041.

Government officials, head of different educational institutions, entrepreneurs, students and internet service providers, among others, attended the meeting.

Additional Secretary to the ICT Division and Project Director Dr Khondokar Azizul Islam addressed the meeting as special guest while Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Mukul Kumar Maitra delivered the welcome speech.
