Law Adviser Asif Nazrul on Thursday said that there is no scope for former speakers or deputy speakers to administer the oath to newly elected members of parliament.
"Therefore, a person designated by the president on the advice of the chief adviser will administer the oath. Otherwise, the chief election commissioner can administer the oath three days after the election," he said at a press briefing at the law ministry in the Secretariat.
He added that the interim government would not cause any delay in administering the oath to the newly elected MPs.
