Eastern Bank (EBL) has entered into a bancassurance agreement with Akij Takaful Life Insurance to offer Shariah-compliant life insurance solutions to its customers.
The partnership aims to enhance financial inclusion by providing ethical, faith-based insurance products through EBL's extensive branch network.
With this initiative, customers will have easier access to a wide range of Islamic life insurance (takaful) options designed to protect families while respecting religious values.
"This collaboration is a significant milestone in expanding our service offerings in alignment with the growing demand for Shariah-compliant financial solutions," said M Khorshed Anowar, Deputy Managing Director and Head of Retail and SME Banking and Chief Bancassurance Officer of EBL.
The agreement was signed on Wednesday at EBL's head office in Dhaka by M Khorshed Anowar and Mohammad Masuduzzaman Khan, Deputy Managing Director and Chief Corporate Business Officer of Akij Takaful Life Insurance.
Other officials present included EBL Deputy Chief of Islamic Banking A K M Mizanur Rahman; Head of Bancassurance and Student Banking Md Raquib; Akij Takaful Life Insurance Acting CEO Shazzadul Karim; Head of Finance and Accounts Abdus Salam Khondoker; Head of Internal Audit and Compliance Parvez; and AVP Md Kamruzzaman.
