Dishonest policemen to be punished, warns home minister

Home Minister Md Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Friday warned that police personnel who was engaged in criminal activities, must face punishment.

He made this remark while addressing a program in city’s Tejgaon area marking the National Mourning Day.

The home minister said the policemen who are involved in criminal activities or in any wrongdoing should be punished, subject to investigation.

He said, we have taken several measures for ensuring professionalism.

He, however, admitted that still there were a few rogue elements within the force.

Highlighting various steps to bring positive changes in police force, the home boss said, the police of today is not the same as the one from 15 years ago.

He further said, our police are capable of dealing with any situation. They are doing well even during the pandemic. Some policemen are committing crimes and they are being punished. 

Referring to the trial of the police officers implicated in the murder of retired army major Sinha Md Rashed Khan, he further said the trials of many policemen are still ongoing.

So, if you commit a crime, you will be punished no matter who you are, he warned.
