The government is going to decide about the fake freedom fighters' children and grandchildren, who got government jobs on FF quota soon, said officials of the Jatiya Muktijoddha Council (Jamuka) and the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.

According to sources, the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has cancelled the gazettes and certificates of about 3,000 fake freedom fighters over the last two years on the recommendation of the Jamuka, the national council for freedom fighters.

Their certificates and gazettes were cancelled as they had managed to get certificates through forgery or adopting other illegal means.

The sources said, several thousand children and grandchildren of those fake freedom fighters were also provided with government jobs in the last 18 years from 2002.

Officials of the Jamuka and the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, as well said since the certificates of those fake freedom fighters have been cancelled, jobs of their children and grandchildren should not continue legally.

The officials concerned said, neither the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs nor the Ministry of Public Administration has the statistics or data about how many children and grandchildren of those fake freedom fighters were provided with government jobs.

They, however, said that the Ministry of Public Administration is going to ask the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs for information about those who were provided with jobs against the certificates of fake freedom fighters.

When asked, Tapan Kanti Ghosh, Secretary of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, said, "We do not have any exact statistics on how many people are now in government jobs on fake certificates. We (Ministry of Liberation War Affairs) just publish gazettes cancelled.”

Deputy Secretary Rathindra Nath Dutt of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, however, said, “The government in the last two years (2019-2020) cancelled around 3,000 gazettes and certificates of freedom fighters, including those of the killers of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.”

Sheikh Yusuf Harun, Secretary of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, said, “We have no data or statistics about how many people got jobs in freedom fighters’ quota as we (Ministry of Public Administration) provide jobs to anybody on recommendation of the Public Service Commission (PSC) or other authorities concerned.

“Accordingly, the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs certifies or attests the certificates of any freedom fighter. Therefore, we do not have the data about how many jobs were provided against fake or cancelled certificates”, he said and continued saying that the Ministry of Public Administration is going to send letters to the Ministry of the Liberation War Affairs asking for information about the matter.

At present the number of gazetted freedom fighters is 2,33,448. Of them, more than 1,80,000 are civilians. Besides, at present 1,89,311 of the enlisted freedom fighters are getting monthly honorarium.
