It is a big surprise that a political party could not learn normal and patriotic course of politics although almost half a century elapsed since its inception, and its level of political bankruptcy is much higher than the country’s politically conscious people thought it would be.
Still the leaders and the policy planners of the party are taking a short cut to usurp state power by resorting to violence which would certainly pave the path of extra constitutional means. Resorting to something miraculous in politics is not a sign of believing in democracy. The December -10 miracle declared by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) seems to be a clear hint of political sabotage and if a party depends on sabotage it is regarded as political bankruptcy.
If you want to make democracy a success, you have to understand it first and believe in it and then you have to practise it with its real essence.
If you want democracy, you have to learn and understand the universally acclaimed doctrine of Abraham Lincoln and learn to show respects to the others’ opinion, you have to understand what type of dedication Voltaire talked about. Establishing democracy and giving it an institutional shape is not a matter of joke. It is a matter of total dedication to earn love and respect of the people.
Because of their activities, the BNP has proved time and again that they are far away from democracy and they are rather inviting something extra-constitutional. Their recent political rhetoric and gesture are giving testimony to making contradiction about what they actually want to do and what they are talking about.
The main objective of a party should be to do something better which can change the life and livelihood of the people.
BNP proved itself much more dangerous than the people could think of. Another surprising aspect is that neither BNP nor its allies have minimum respect for the country and its independence which was earned through the ocean of blood of the millions of martyrs under the leadership of the Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Not a single person from the BNP has ever pronounced “Father of the nation Bangabandhu” before the name of country’s founder Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, under whose name the freedom fighters had sacrificed their lives and embraced martyrdom.
BNP-Jamaat leaders and activists behave like the Pakistan army, which had been defeated in the War of Liberation under the leadership of Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. They won’t say Bangabandhu, they won’t say Father of the nation, and here is the real problem between BNP-Jamaat and Awami League and other progressive forces of the country. It is a fundamental problem with BNP-Jamaat, which had been engaged in killing innocent people including teachers of Dhaka University who happened to be the teachers of those killers.
Those who carried out genocide in association with the Pakistani Army and killed their own teachers during the War of Liberation of Bangladesh in 1971, how could BNP consider them as real ally? It would not be very unusual if I say that the BNP-Jamaat do not believe in country’s independence as they don’t have respect to the country’s father of the nation, and then am I wrong? The main pain of BNP-Jamaat was the Independent Bangladesh and its creator Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib and her daughter Sheikh Hasina. They have killed the Bangabandhu with most of the members of his family and now the killers are trying their best to kill Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who survived several attempts on her life. This is the real situation of politics in Bangladesh.
So long as this BNP-Jamaat will exist, country will never get peace and progress and the very existence of the country will always be threatened.
BNP is a common platform of the anti-liberation forces and a nexus of Islamic extremism, terrorists and the anti-liberation forces.
Because of his acts and deeds, General Zia, who founded BNP in the cantonment and get nurtured by the army intelligence, proved that he didn’t believe in country’s Independence. Immediately after usurping state power, he scrapped four ideals upon which the Independent Bangladesh was founded. Zia erased ‘Joy Bangla’ slogan which was the main source of spirit and inspiration for the freedom fighters in the war field to fight the enemies and before launching attack on enemy they used to shout this slogan. Zia had encouraged killing country’s father of the nation who gave us an Independent country by his life-long dedication. Zia killed army officers who fought a tremendous battle against Pakistan army for country’s independence and he rehabilitated the anti-liberation forces after usurping state power by brandishing arms.
Zia organized BNP in the cantonment with the anti-liberation forces, which had helped Pakistan army committing genocide in Bangladesh during the War of Liberation in 1971 and taking everything of our beloved mother and sisters during that time. With a view to making people fool, the BNP was trying to pretend that they are also in favor of country’s Independence, but it has been revealed again when Hummam Quader, son of late SAQA Chowdhury who had been hanged to death by the International Court of Crime Against the Humanity, demanded that those who were involved in awarding punishment to those criminals would have to go to their houses in person and beg apology if the BNP would be able to take power by ousting the government of Sheikh Hasina.
Mysteriously, the BNP didn’t declare that these type of people can’t belong to BNP anymore. They only said that those words are not the words of BNP. Actually the BNP was formed with these types of people from the very beginning and still they are dominating BNP. Because of their belief, most of the BNP leaders and activists are anti-liberation forces, they don’t like the Independent Bangladesh should exist and develop with the spirit of Independent Bangladesh. They are opposing every step of country’s peace, progress and advancement under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. They are not democrat as it had been formed and developed by the then army intelligence in the Dhaka Cantonment. They only pretend to be the democrat. It is easily understandable that their motive is to make people fool at home and abroad.
