Payra Port’s 1st terminal

Deal inked with three Korean companies

The government on Tuesday signed a deal with a joint venture of three Korean companies to appoint a consultant for build the first terminal of Payra port by 2021. The three companies are - Kunhwa Engineering and Consulting Co Ltd and Daeyong Engineering Company Limited and Hareem Architect and Planners Company Limited of South Korea.
Payra Port Authority Chairman Commodore M Jahangir Alam and Kunhwa Engineering and Consulting Company Limited, Daeyoung Engineering Company Limited and Heerim Architects and Planners Company Limited signed the agreement on behalf of the respective institutions.

Shipping Secretary Md Abdus Samad witnessed the deal signing ceremony at the Shipping Ministry conference room. For implementation of the project, consultant's work will be completed by a single team with some sub-teams. The three companies will work as main supervisor while Bangladeshi company Symbiotic Architect will work as sub-supervisor.
The work of consultancy has been divided into two phases - design and supervision. 

The total cost of the deal is Tk 79.52 crore. Payra Deep Sea Port is one of the mega projects of the government which is implemented at Kalapara upazila in Patuakhali district. The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has given allocation of Tk 3982.10 crore for the implementation of the project by 2021.
