DCC proposed central complaints management system

The Digital Commerce Cell (DCC) has handed over a set of recommendation to the cabinet division on Wednesday proposing to issue a unique business identification number and introducing a central complaints management system alongside a central logistic tracking platform to streamline the e-commerce sector of the country.

Additional Secretary Ministry of Commerce, also the DCC Chief AHM Shafiquzzaman told Bangladesh Post on Wednesday that as the cabinet division gave them responsibility to prepare a set of recommendation, they have done it within the timeframe and accordingly submitted the report.  

 " Now the cell is working for forging an authority and a legal framework also working actively so that it can start paying back the money of the affected e-commerce consumers and merchants that got stuck in payment gateway”, Shafiquzzaman added.

He has that now they are waiting for an opinion from the legislative wing of the law ministry regarding the pay back.

The high-level 15-member committee on e-commerce was formed by the cabinet division last month. The committee is also working mainly on how to refunding Taka 214 crore to the customers as well as to bringing the e commerce sector under an effective supervisory and monitoring measures. 

The money is stuck in payment gateway for non-delivery of goods by errant e-commerce firms.

“We are also working to develop an unique business development app, where all have to come through a registration process”, he added.
