Daily infection rate falls to 4.69%

The coronavirus situation improves in the country as the current positivity rate has dropped to 4.69 per cent on Tuesday.

According to experts, the Covid-19 situation can be considered under control if the positivity rate remains below 5% for two consecutive weeks.

The country recorded 1,562 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,545,800, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Tuesday.

Bangladesh registered 26 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Tuesday, taking the total number of deaths to 27,277.  The death rate now stands at 1.76 percent in the country.

A total of 33,327 samples were tested during this time. The overall positivity rate stands at 16.27percent.

Among the 26 deceased, 16 were men and 10 were women. Among the deaths reported, 15 died in Dhaka division, three each in Chattogram and Rajshahi, two each in Khulna and Sylhet, and one died in Mymensingh division.

During this period 1,603 Covid-19 patients have recovered. Up until now, a total of 1,504,709 people have recovered from the virus and the recovery rate stands at 97.34 percent.

As of Tuesday, 4,715,695 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 229,922,528 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
