Daily Covid infections cross 50 after two weeks

Bangladesh recorded 51 new infections in 24 hours till 8am Saturday taking the total number of people infected to 1,952,275.

Earlier, on April 4, 61 Covid cases were reported by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). Since then, the number of cases had been below 50.

In the meantime, the country registered no death from Covid-19 yet again. The total number of deaths remains at 29,124, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday.

The current positivity rate stands 1.28 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 14.02 percent. In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.49 percent in the country, added the release.

A total of 3,994 samples were tested across the country till 8am Saturday. 

Some 252 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,890,516 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 96.84 percent.

As of Saturday, 6,220,830 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 503,889,386 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
