The daily Covid-19 infection rate in the country continues to fall further. Throughout the last week, the infection rate fell by around 50 percent.
Bangladesh registered eight more deaths in 24 hours from Covid-19 till 8am Tuesday. The total number of deaths has reached to 29,045 with the latest figure.
The country recorded 799 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,944,376, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Tuesday.
The current positivity rate stands 3.35 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 14.48 percent. Last Wednesday, the rate stood at 6.77 percent which has come down to half within the week.
In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.49 percent in the country, added the release.
Among the eight deceased, five were males and three were females. Of them, one was from Dhaka, three from Chattogram, two from Rajshahi and one each from Khulna and Mymensingh division.
A total of 23,817 samples were tested across the country till 8am Tuesday.
Some 7,460 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,822,125 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 93.71 percent.
As of Tuesday, 5,977,310 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 437,588,185 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
