The cyclonic storm "Midhili" weakened into a deep depression after moving north-northeastwards and crossing the coast at 3 pm on Friday.
It now lies over Patuakhali and adjoining area, a Met Office special weather bulletin said.
According to met office sources, Midhili is likely to move northeastwards further inland and weaken gradually by giving precipitation. Under its influence steep pressure gradient persists over North Bay.
Squally weather may continue over the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.
The maritime ports of Mongla and Payra have been advised to lower danger signal no-seven and to hoist local cautionary signal- three.
Maritime ports of Chattogram and Cox's Bazar have been advised to lower danger signal no- six and to hoist local cautionary signal three.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain in shelter till further notice.
