Cox’s Bazar buzzes with holidaymakers

Due to long vacation of Eid-ul-Adha, a huge number of tourists from different parts of the country visiting Cox’s Bazar – the country’s main tourist destination.

The city Cox’s Bazar buzzed with happy bunch of tourists since the eid day.

Visiting the beach area, it has been witnessed that tourists from different points are going towards Kalatoli. Tourists enjoy their time by singing in groups, bathing in seawater, looking out at the deep sea and so on.

A good number of people are passing busy time snapping photographs of near and dear ones, riding jet ski (beach bike) and horses on the beach. More than 90 percent of the rooms in different hotels and motels were booked and still many tourists are continuing to visit the longest sea beach of the world.

Cox’s Bazar now has combined the capacity to accommodate over 80,000 tourists at about 400 hotels, motels and guesthouses, industry insiders say. Of the hotel, motels, 25 hotels are five star and three star standards.

Sidratul Alam, a college student from the capital city, is among the tourists who come to enjoy their leisure time with near and dear ones at the beach city. “I came to Cox’s Bazar on the second day of Eid with my family,” he said adding: “As it is hard to find some free time from regular schedules, we planned to spend our vacation in Cox’s Bazar. I am really excited to be here and having a good time with my family.”

Mohammad Iqbal Hossain, Superintendent of Police of Cox’s Bazar said: “Our law enforcement people remain alert to ensure safe travelling of the tourists”.

Besides, two mobile court teams are roaming in the tourism zone to ensure the city’s normal environment, prevent hijacking, cheating, harassment and charging extra fare.

Based on the Cox’s Bazar District Administration information it was learnt that, during last few days more than three lakh tourists arrived in the sea-city. The number will cross seven lakh within next week.
