Bangladesh registered 20 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Saturday. This takes the total number of deaths to 27,674. The current positivity rate dropped to 2.45 pc.
Earlier on Friday, the country recorded seven Covid deaths. The number is almost tripled within a day.
The country recorded 415 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,561,878, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday.
The death rate now stands at 1.77 percent in the country, the release added. Around 16,925 samples were tested during this time.
Among the 20 deceased, there were 12 men and eight women. Among the deaths reported on Saturday, nine died in Dhaka, four in Chattogram, three in Rangpur, two in Mymensingh and one each died in Khulna and Barisal divisions.
Around 543 people recovered from the virus during the time. A total of 1,523,134 people have recovered so far from the virus and the recovery rate stands at 97.52 percent.
As of Saturday, 4,859,599 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 238,100,141 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
