Covid claims 17 lives in 24hrs

Bangladesh registered 17 more deaths in 24 hours from Covid-19 till 8am Wednesday. The total number of deaths has reached to 28,273 with the latest figure.

Meanwhile, the country recorded 15,527 new infections in a day, taking the total number of people infected to 1,731,524, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday.

The current positivity rate is 31.64 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 14.12 percent.

In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.63 percent in the country, added the release.

Among the deaths, 10 were reported in the Dhaka division, four in Chattogram, and one each in Mymensingh, Rajshahi and Khulna divisions. 

A total of 49,073 samples were tested across the country till 8am Wednesday. 

Some 1,052 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,560,006 people recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 90.09 percent.

As of Wednesday, 5,636,422, people died of Covid-19 across the world and 359,791,208 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
