Covid-19 vax prog to resume

The Health Department is going to start the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccination programme soon in view of the increase in the number of corona infections across the country. 

Priority will be given to frontline health workers, elderly aged 60 years and above, aged 18 years and above with chronic diseases, immunocompromised adults and pregnant women. 

On Thursday (January 18), Member Secretary of the Department of Health's Covid-19 Vaccine Management Task Force, Dr Mohammad Nizamuddin issued a circular saying that booster doses of the 3rd and 4th Pfizer VCV vaccine will be given across the country.

The centers are Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Kurmitola General Hospital, Sir Salimullah Medical College (Mitford) Hospital, Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, Mugda Medical College Hospital, Sheikh Russel National Gastro Liver Institute and Hospital and Fulbaria Government Employees Hospital. Pfizer RTU vaccine should be used for the 1st and 2nd doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. 

Initially this vaccination will be given at Dhaka North City Corporation's Covid Dedicated Hospital, Mohakhali and Dhaka South City Corporation's Nayabazar Dhaka Metropolitan General Hospital. Proof of 1st and 2nd doses of vaccinations will be provided to the concerned center with the name and date of the vaccine mentioned in the Covid-19 Immunization Card. For the 3rd and 4th dose vaccination, download the vaccination card from Suraksha website or app and take it with you, the notification said. 

However, even if there is no danger of the spreading of any new variant, the Health Department has given instructions for quick vaccination. After that, the Covid-19 vaccination programme will be conducted step by step through the distribution of vaccines to various specialized institutes and government hospitals of Dhaka, government medical college hospitals outside Dhaka and district level hospitals. 

Note that some precautionary measures can help you and your family avoid contracting the coronavirus. For example: 

Wash hands frequently with soap and water or rub hands with alcohol-based hand rub.

Avoid touching the face, especially eyes, nose and mouth.

Cover mouth with elbow or tissue when sneezing or coughing. Dispose of used tissues immediately in designated waste bins. 

Avoid crowded places and contact with people. Avoid sharing food, plates, cups and towels.

Clean and disinfect frequently touched items including phones, door handles, light switches, remote controls. 

Stay at home if you feel sick, even if you have mild fever and chills.

Use a mask when sneezing and coughing or when handling someone suspected of having Covid-19. 

However, health workers must wear medical masks. 

It is mentioned in the context of Corona Briddhi, Pfizer covid-19 1st, 2nd and booster dose 3rd and 4th vaccination programme 2024 is going to be restarted soon by the health department of the government of Bangladesh.

Note that, the first coronavirus was detected in Bangladesh on March 8, 2020, and the vaccination programme began in January of the following year. About seven crore people of the country have been vaccinated with the first dose of coronavirus and about four and a half crore people have been vaccinated with two doses. In addition, the 3rd and 4th vaccinations have also been given.
