Country sees 31 more Covid deaths

Bangladesh recorded 31 more deaths from coronavirus in the last 24 hours until Tuesday. The total number of deaths due to Covid-19 infection in the country now stands at 27,470.

Meanwhile, 1,310 new corona cases were identified in 24 hours till Tuesday. So far, the total number of identified patients stands at 1,55,3873 people.

This information was given in the regular press release on Covid-19 updates by the Directorate General of Health Services on Tuesday.

The death rate now stands at 1.77 percent in the country, added the release.

The positivity rate has been below five percent for the sixth day in a row. Covid-19 situation is considered under control if the infection rate remains below five percent for two consecutive weeks.

The current positivity rate stands at 4.49 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 16.06 percent.

Among the 31 deceased, 17 were men, and 14 were women. 13 of the deceased were from Dhaka, five both from Chattogram and Khulna. In addition, two were from each of Rajshahi, Barisal, Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions.

A total of 29,186 samples were tested across the country till 8am Tuesday.

During this period 1,195 Covid-19 patients have recovered. Up until now, a total of 1,513,876 people have recovered from the virus and the recovery rate stands at 97.43 percent.

As of Tuesday 4,771,772 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 232,191,017 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
