This year, performing hajj under private management will cost a minimum of Tk 6,72,618  which has increased by Tk 1,49,874 compared to the previous year.

Last year, Tk 5,22,744 was needed to perform hajj under private management.

Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB) president M Shahadat Hossain Taslim announced this hajj package at a press conference held at a hotel in the capital on Thursday.

He said, “There is a package that has been finalised for pilgrims to perform hajj under private management. The price of the lowest package without sacrifice cost has been fixed at Tk 6,72,618. Besides, every agency can make different packages according to the needs of pilgrims.”

The HAAB president said that people aged 65 and above can go for hajj this year. Hajj pilgrims under the announced package will be accommodated at a maximum distance of 1,500 meters from the boundary of the outer area of the holy Haram Sharif.

He also said that the cost of sacrifice would be borne separately by the pilgrim.

Mr Taslim said that the registration of private hajj pilgrims will start from February 6. The hajj pilgrims will deposit the entire amount of the hajj package only in the bank account of the concerned hajj agency or directly in the agency and save the money receipt. He also said the hajj pilgrims not to do any transactions with middlemen. Hajj pilgrims must deposit the full amount of hajj package money with their respective agency’s bank or receive the money receipt by depositing it in the agency’s office by March 15.

He said that no airline will be able to carry any pilgrim on scheduled flights this year without dedicated flights. Any additional fees imposed by the Saudi Government after the package announcement will be considered as the price of the package and payable by the pilgrim.

The holy hajj will be held in Saudi Arabia on July 27 subject to sighting of the moon. This time 1,27,198 people will get the opportunity to perform hajj from Bangladesh. Out of this, 15000 people will be able to go for hajj under government management and the rest 1,12,198 under private management.

HAAB Secretary General Farooq Ahmad Sardar, Vice President Alhaj Ayakub Ali Sharafati, Maulana Fazlur Rahman and many others were present in the press conference.
