Three professors of Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) have claimed inventing techniques and medicine formula which “will help prevent the spread of coronavirus”. They said they have made anti-viral nano-membranes in laboratory using electro-Aspen method to produce various essential components of anti-viral clothing, gloves and masks.
“Clothing, gloves and masks made with the components will save people not only of Bangladesh, but also of the entire world” said DUET Mechanical Department Teacher Dr Mohammad Asaduzzaman Chowdhury, head of the research team. The two other members of the team are Dr Md Abdus Shahid of Textile Engineering and Dr Mohammad Abul Kashem of Computer Science and Engineering.
The researchers also claimed to have invented the formula of a medicine with elements of different plants available in Bangladesh which is effective in destroying the protein spikes of coronavirus and its ultimate neutralisation. “We’re continuing our research activities. Hope, we’ll so be able to make the complete anti-coronary drug,” Prof Chowdhury told Bangladesh Post.
He said their environment- and human-friendly inventions will create the new opportunity to fight coronavirus or COVID-19 without side effect. The research team has already submitted their findings to an international journal. They have urged others to work on different aspects of the research.
