CIS-BCCI for exploring Russia market

He calls on new Russian ambassador in Dhaka

Independent States-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry) Md. HabibUllahDawn along with his Board of Directors made a courtesy call on the Russian Ambassador in Dhaka Alexander VikentyevichMantytskiy today at the embassy office.

During the meeting, CIS-BCCI President highlighted the activities of the CIS-BCCI Chamber in the private sector forum for promoting the trade and economic cooperation between Bangladesh and CIS Countries with special focus on Russia, said a press release.

He emphasized on the potentiality of Russian market for Bangladesh in a bid to diversity the export market, as the country's export basket is still small and concentrated on the USA and EU markets only.

In order to augment the export on RMG (Readymade Garments), Garments Accessories, Pharmaceuticals, Leather goods, seafoods and other products

Russian market should be tapped fully, Dawn pointed out.

The President expressed his hope with the establishing of Inter Government Commission (IGC), the mutual trade and economic cooperation will be more broad-based and deepened.

He further underscored the need for improving connectivity with Russia through shipping cargo, warehouse facilities in Russia and adequate banking facilities for smooth transaction in business.

In response, Alexander Vikentyevich also reciprocated the idea saying that both Russia and Bangladesh are engaged in deep friendship right after the Liberation War of Bangladesh and thus the scope for bilateral trade and commerce has been widened.

The Russian Ambassador appreciated the role of CIS Chamber in fostering close business ties with Russia and stressed on expediting the operation of roadmap to implement the decisions of second protocol of IGC and for improving business to business cooperation between the two countries.

In this connection, he called for a list of members of the chamber and also from business community as a whole who are dealing with export/import business in Russia so as to extend full cooperation to them from the Russian embassy and CIS-BCCI chamber.

The Ambassador also stressed on the need for CIS-BCCI's participation in different Trade Fairs in Moscow and thus showcase the products made In Bangladesh.
