Volunteer social organization Cholo Gori Belabo is distributing Eid gift packages this year to 764 underprivileged families in Belabo Upazila, funded through a crowdfunding initiative.
According to the organization, approximately Tk 544,000 was raised over a 27-day campaign through social media. Numerous well-wishers from both home and abroad contributed generously to the fund.
Founded in 2020, Cholo Gori Belabo has been regularly organizing food assistance programs for underprivileged families during Ramadan and Eid. This year, a total of 764 families across 72 wards in Belab Upazila are receiving Eid gifts, compared to 504 families supported last year.
Each Eid package includes polao rice, lentils, soybean oil, onions, salt, vermicelli, sugar, powdered milk, meat spices, and bathing soap. The estimated value of each package is around Tk 508.
In addition to Eid assistance, the organization has undertaken various social initiatives over time, including tree plantation drives, public awareness campaigns during the COVID-19 pandemic, medical assistance for the poor, winter clothing distribution, recognition programs for meritorious students, and organizing sports and cultural competitions.
The organization has also arranged the CGB Foundation scholarship exam for students of grades 8 and 9 and provided financial and food support to flood-affected communities during the 2024 floods.
A volunteer from the organization stated that continued support from all sections of society in Belabo Upazila is essential to sustain such humanitarian efforts. The organization expressed heartfelt gratitude to all who have contributed financially, physically, and with their time.
He also expressed hope for strengthening social harmony, compassion, and humanitarian values in society.
