China-returnee in quarantine in Dinajpur

His father also sick

A student of Dinajpur who have returned from China 13 days ago has been kept under intensive care at home quarantine after he was affected by fever and cold on Wednesday.

Sample of his saliva from his mouth and nose has been sent to the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) in Dhaka for detection. The student landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport from Jhejiang state of China through Malaysia on 27 February last and returned Dinajpur on the same day.

Members of the family of the student said he returned home hale and hearty 13 days ago. He was caught by fever and cold three days ago. His father also fell sick after one day of his son’s sickness.

Civil Surgeon of Dinajpur Dr MdAbdul Kuddus said, “Receiving the news that a person fell sick at Upashohor area of Dinajpur town we visited his house with a medical team on Tuesday night. Although his body temperature was high, there was no symptom of coronavirus attack. His father has also got the same symptoms.”

He further said that the Civil Surgeon’s office informed the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) in Dhaka on Tuesday night. “A two-member team of Rangpur IEDCR collected sample of saliva from the patient’s nose and mouth on Wednesday. They will send the sample to their Dhaka office. Dhaka IEDCR will confirm us of the matter,” he added.
