In the ongoing 75th Annual Conference of the International Federation of Airline Pilots Association (IFALPA), Captain IshtiaqueHossain, a Commander of Boeing 787 Dreamliner of Biman Bangladesh Airlines has been elected as the Executive Vice President for Asia Pacific Region for the third consecutive term through the Direct Voting procedure.
The Annual Conference is being attended by 550 delegates from all over the world. Before CaptIshtiaque, no airline pilot of this sub-continent had been elected even for a single term in this highest professional post. Besides Bangladesh, CaptIshtiaque will be responsible for the aviation sector of the Asia/Pacific countries Australia, China including Hong Kong, Fiji, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Thailand and all the other SAARC countries and some Pacific countries.

The mission of the Federation is to promote the highest level of aviation safety worldwide and to be the global advocate of the piloting profession; providing representation, services, and support to both the member countries and the aviation industry.
It works closely with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), a specialised agency of the United Nations Organisation and International LabourOrganisation (ILO) purely on safety, security and progression of the world's aviation industry at large.
Captain IshtiaqueHossain is the only aviation personnel of Asia and Pacific Region who has been appointed in this prestigious position for three consecutive times. He is also the First Bangladeshi who is a full member of 'International Society of Air Safety Investigators (ISASI)', a United States based sole organisation specifically created for the air safety investigators and/or the aircraft accident prevention professionals of the world.
He is one of the pioneering airline pilot of Bangladesh who has international accreditation as an 'Aircraft Accident Investigator' (AAI). CaptIshtiaque was the Regional Vice-President Asia/West for consecutive four terms before he got elected for the post of Executive Vice President.
According to the aviation industry officials of Bangladesh, this comes as an achievement of Biman Bangladesh Airlines and the entire aviation industry of the country, especially during Bangabandhu's birth centenary and 50 years of independence.
