As per the government’s overarching strategy to enhance financial sustainability across its entities, both the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) and Biman Bangladesh Airlines have asked to prioritize and achieve profitability.

The newly appointed civil aviation and tourism minister Muhammad Faruk Khan made this comment at respective headquarters of both the ministries in the capital on Monday.

Citing that the aviation industry of the country is continuously growing, the minister said, “We have to take advantage of this growing market. With this, CAAB should strive to increase revenue and everyone should work to ensure that.”  The minister has also said

that, in the future attention should be paid to enable civil aviation authorities to undertake and complete all their development activities from their revenue.

He said that all airport-based services should be digitized so that people can get services easily and reduce their suffering. All measures should be taken to maintain international standards of airport security.

He also stressed on continuous and timely development of human resources for the smooth execution of all airport works.

Later, the minister held a meeting with senior officials of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at Balaka Bhaban.

There, he instructed the officials to take necessary measures to increase in-flight passenger services and to deliver the luggage at the earliest.

“To make Biman a trusted transport for passengers, the service needs to be enhanced as well as the communication with the passengers should be increased too. Biman Bangladesh Airlines should continue its planned and continuous operations to continue its profit streak,” added the minister.
