Applications are open for ‘Future News Worldwide 2020’. It is a prestigious international conference for the next generation of journalists run by the British Council in partnership with some of the world’s leading media organisations.
This is a fully funded opportunity for 100 brightest young student writers, vloggers, photojournalists and reporters from around the world in the two-day event at Sky Central - the global headquarters of the Sky Group in July 2020 in Isleworth, London, UK.
In order to enhance the skills of emerging journalists of the next generation, leading media organisations such as Reuters, the Google News Initiative, Facebook, and UK Schools of Journalism are contributing to this once-in-a-lifetime conference where young journalists can create global connections.
Last year's event of ‘Future News Worldwide 2019’ witnessed some of the most experienced and respected international editors, broadcasters, and reporters shared their knowledge and insights with delegates from 50 countries, including Bangladesh.
Speakers included Jon Snow, Presenter at Channel Four; Christina Lamb, Chief Foreign Correspondent for the Sunday Times; Nick Tattersall, Head of Global News Desk for Reuters, and Sreenivasan Jain, Managing Editor at New Delhi Television.
For the next generation of newsmakers and content creators for all types of media, Future News Worldwide 2020 will deliver an exuberant and packed programme. Judging by last year’s entries, which has received over 3000 applications and 2500 applications for the year before, competition for places will be even harder.
Undergraduate and postgraduate students from any country who will be aged between 18-25 years old on July 1, 2020, are eligible to apply. Applicants should be able to speak English at an advanced level and need to show that they are passionate about pursuing their careers in journalism.
