Bourses begin week in upbeat

Country’s premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) today began week extending the gaining note of previous Session, reports BSS. The broad index, DSEX closed at 4528.20 points on Sunday, first working day of week, with a gain of 14.31 points or 0.31 percent. Besides, two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 went up by 2.43 points while Shariah index, DSES declined slightly by 0.26 points to settle at 1545.85 points and 1035.22 points respectively.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 145,396 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 173.56 million securities. Losers took a lead over gainers as out of 356 issues traded, 150 securities gained price while 158 declined and 48 remained unchanged.

The top 10 gainers were Global Heavy, Delta Life Insurance, Fu Wang Food, Saif Power, Shasha Denims, Kattali Textile, Fu Wang Ceramics, Shepherd Industries, ISN Limited and Fareast Life Insurance. LafargeHolcim Bangladesh topped the turnover chart followed by SS Steel, ADN Telecom, Square Pharma, KPCL, National Tubes, Paramount Textile, BSCCL, Pioneer Insurance and National Polymer.

The top 10 losers were Van Guard AML BD Mutual Fund-1, Silco Pharma, SEML IBBL Shariah Fund, Beach Hatchery, ICB, Prime Finance First Mutual Fund, EBL NRB Mutual Fund, Shamorita Hospital, ICB Employee First Mutual Fund Scheme-1 and Green Delta Mutual Fund. On the other hand, port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed at green extending the upbeat of previous day.

CSCX and CASPI rose by 28.11 points and 48.36 points to stand at 8365.38 points and 13792.73 points respectively. At CSE, a total of 9,114,497 shares and mutual fund of 246 companies were traded, of which 115 issues advanced while 106 declined and 25 issues remained unchanged.
