Bombs, explosives recovered from militant den

Members of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CTTC) conducted separate drives in Nayagaon under Araihazar Upazila and in Kazipara under Bandar Upazila on Sunday night and recovered three bombs and bomb manufacturing explosives and ultra-militant literature.

The law enforcers also arrested a militant named Barek alias Sabbir alias Major Osama.

Chief of CTTC Azaduzzaman in a media brief claimed that they arrested a militant Abdullah Al Mamun from Dhaka who was imam of a mosque at Nayagaon Miyasaheb Bari of Araihazar Upazila and based on his statement they conducted drive in the Miyabari house and recovered three improvised explosive device (IED) bombs that were made inactive by the Bomb Disposal Unit members.

The same unit in another drive in Kazipara area of Bandar Upazila arrested Barek alias Sabbir who was also imam of a mosque. During the drive, explosives were recovered that was supposed to be used to manufacture four bombs and ultra-militant literature.

The CTTC chief in the media brief didn’t mention details about the identity of the arrestees due to the interest of ongoing investigation.

CTTC also said that two IED bombs were exploded in Shiddhirganj mayhem on April 17 those were manufactured by the arrested accused. They also claimed the arrested in disguise as the imam of the mosque have been running militant activities as well as providing training to manufacture highly explosive bombs.
