Additional police commissioner (ADC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Kh Mahid Uddin on Wednesday said that the BNP must hold their October 28 rally where they will be permitted.

He also expressed the hope that they will be in that place with responsibility.

Earlier, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that they will hold their scheduled rally in front of Nayapaltan party office if police do not give permission.

Asked about that, Mahid Uddin said, "I have to speak from within the legal framework. I didn't want to make any comment on anyone's statements. But BNP must hold the rally where it will be allowed."

Responding to a question regarding Jamaat-e-Islami's holding rally on October 28 in the capital, he said, "We have received an application from the party. The High Court has observations about Jamaat-e-Islami. Party like Jamaat will not be allowed to hold rally at Shapla Chattar."

The additional police commissioner urged all the political parties to follow the conditions given under the law framework.

Meanwhile, the anti-crime elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) said it will set up checkpoints at the entrances of Dhaka, important spots, and intersections on 28 October.

Commander Khandaker Al Moin, director of the Legal and Media Wing of RAB made this remark while addressing a press conference on Wednesday.

He said,"RAB will be on alert so that no one can incite violence by capitalising on the political situation.”

Intelligence agencies are also working to prevent anyone from inciting violence and anarchy, he said.

He also mentioned the cyber world is under surveillance ahead of the rallies.
