BNP organised a rally in front of its Nayapaltan central office blockading one of the busiest roads in Nayapaltan-Fakirapool area from 2pm to evening on Tuesday created huge traffic congestion in the capital.
Though the programme was scheduled to begin at 2pm, leaders and workers started gathering in front of the BNP office from 12.30pm.
BNP held the rally today as per its previous announcement made on December 10 from its Golapbagh public rally.
Before the beginning of the rally around 2pm, BNP leaders from the stage of the rally requested police to stop vehicular movement on one side of the street in front of the party office. After the request, vehicular movement was stopped immediately.
BNP leaders and workers of different organizational units were coming at the venue with processions from different sides which created traffic congestion in the streets and it impacted other surrounding streets.
Purana Paltan and Dainik Bangla intersections saw a massive traffic jam as many passengers were seen walking on footpaths to reach their destination.
