BNP leader Amir Khasru, wife sued for fraud

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) lodged a graft case against BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, his wife and three others for fraudulence and defying original plan while building Hotel Sarina.

Salina Akhtar, Deputy Director of ACC's Integrated District Office Dhaka-1 lodged the graft case on Monday.

ACC Secretary Mahbub Hossain disclosed the information during a press briefing.

The other accused are Hotel Sarina Chairman Golam Sarwar, Managing Director Sabera Sarwar Neena and Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) Building Inspector (Design Approval department) Aurangzeb Nannu.

In the name of developing plot number 27 on road number 17 in Banani, a 5 star hotel (22-storey building) named Sarina and another building (a 21-storey) were built after buying plot number 25 as well. This was a serious violation as they did not follow the approved plan, the case statement said.

The accused have been charged under Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947 (Act No. 2) along with Sections 409/109/467/468/471/420 of the Penal Code.
