BNP-Jamaat arson attacks continue

A total of 16 fire incidents were occurred at different areas of the country in last 27 hours of the BNP-Jamaat’s 72-hour blockade programme.

BNP-Jamaat terrors carried out these arsons attacks between 6:00 am on Tuesday and 9:00 am on Wednesday. 

Sources in the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters confirmed it.

Of the total incidents, four incidents took place in the capital Dhaka, six in Dhaka division, and three each in Chattogram and Rajshahi divisions, read the message.  

The fire service said a total of nine buses, two covered vans, two trucks, a pickup van, two commercial establishments and a police box were gutted down due to the fire.

BNP and Jamaat announced a three-day nationwide blockade programme that began on Tuesday to press home their unconstitutional demand of caretaker government.  

BNP-Jamaat caders set a passenger bus of "Itihash Paribahan" on fire beside the Kafrul Police Station in the city on Wednesday.

The incident happened around 4:00 pm on Wednesday, according to eyewitnesses.

Kafrul Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Farukul Alam confirmed the matter.

BNP-Jammat men also torched a wheat-laden truck in Tebaripara area on Bogura-Nagarbari road in Raiganj upazila of Sirajganj Tuesday night.

Asif Mohammed Siddikul Islam, officer-in-charge of Raiganj Police Station confirmed it.

BNP-Jamaat activists hurled a crude bomb at the Maitree Express train near Ishwardi junction in Pabna.

Pakshi Divisional Railway Manager Shah Sufi Nur Mohammad confirmed it.

The incident took place around 12:40pm as the train from Kolkata was heading towards Dhaka, he said.

BNP-Jammat supporters torched a parked bus in Savar's Modhumoti Model Town area early Wednesday.

Transport worker Abdul Mannan, who was present at the time of the incident, told that around 20 to 30 men on several motorcycles shouting pro-BNP slogans set fire to a bus. They then threw brick chunks at several buses parked nearby, before leaving the scene.

Dipok Chandra Saha, officer-in-charge of Savar Model Police Station, told that around 20-30 BNP supporters on motorcycles set fire to a Rimi Paribahan bus at the bus depot early  Wednesday.

A bus and a truck were torched in Chattogram's Karnaphuli and Rangunia areas by BNP-Jamaat activists 

In Karnaphuli upazila, a passenger bus was set on fire allegedly by BNP men on Vellapara Road around 8:30am.

BNP-Jamaat  men also set fire  on two vehicles in the Baghopara area of Sadar upazila. 

Additionally, a covered van was vandalized in the Tinmatha area of the highway. 

 BNP-Jamaat caders detonated four to five cocktails. 

Around 12:30pm, BNP-Jamaat men forced the truck to stop, poured petrol on it, and ignited the fire before fleeing the scene.
