Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Saturday blamed the Bangladesh Nationalist Party for introducing the politics of killing and conspiracy in the country.
“Bangladesh Nationalist Party is an extremist party as they started the politics of killing and conspiracy. Country’s politics stained with blood due to their politics,” he said while responding to BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s statement that the AL started politics of killing and conspiracy.
Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, bitterly criticised the BNP for putting the blame on the AL.
“Why do they not admit that extremism was started at their hands? Like a driver of a reckless car, Mirza Fakhrul is a reckless driver of politics. He wants to make accidents (as a driver) as the past
records say so. BNP men want to repeat the accidents again and again as there is no other activity to survive in politics,” he told reporters at a briefing at party president Sheikh Hasina’s political office at Dhanmondi.
“They staged the heinous killing (assassination of Bangabandhu) in the history of human civilisation. Besides Khandker Mostaque, Ziaur Rahman was the mastermind of that carnage. They also killed four national leaders inside jail. They are now trying to shift the responsibility on the Awami League,” he added.
The AL spokesperson said they (BNP) carried out a grenade attack on August 21 in broad daylight, leaving 23 people dead.
“Our president Sheikh Hasina was the prime target,” he said.
The AL general secretary said that they (BNP) have repeatedly staged dramas to hide the real facts.
“They still continue the ill-activity of blaming others for their own actions or misdeeds. What Mirza Fakhrul is saying after coming out of jail is the echo of these dramas,” he continued.
AL senior leaders including Abu Saeed Al Mahmud Swapan, Sujit Roy Nandi and Biplab Barua, among others, were present on the occasion.
