BNP activists on Thursday, to the utter surprise of all, created chaos and anarchy in and around the National Press club.
Several hundred BNP activists entered the National Press Club and held a showdown as part of their political programme ‘Kalo DIbos’ without prior permission of the club authorities and in gross violation of the code of the press club.
Any political programme is prohibited on the national press club premises by the club authorities. But the BNP activists thronged the press club and shouted various slogans in their rally which crippled the club activities for at least four hours from 11am to 3pm.
The anarchy caused untold sufferings to the leaders and members of the National Press Club.
Many of the senior journalists, including leaders of the organizations vented their anger as they had to suffer for hours due to indisciplined acts by the BNP men. They could neither enter the Press Club nor could they come out of the club for a long time.
Authorities of the National press Club and its senior leaders said that BNP held rallies in the area without any permission from the authorities.
The National Press Club authorities earlier on October 13 banned all kinds of political programmes and gatherings at the Press Club.
The authorities resorted to take such a decision as several associate bodies of BNP created anarchy inside the National Press Club area. The club authorities also banned some wings of the BNP, including Zihad Smrity Parishad and Zia Parishad.
