Marking the independence day of the country Biman Bangladesh Airlines is likely to resume its flight operation on the Dhaka-Toronto route from March 26.
Besides, it has already taken all necessary preparations to decorate itself with all amenities to keep continue its flight operation on the new route.
Biman Managing Director and CEO Abu Saleh Mostafa Kamal came up with such assertion while speaking to journalists after a press briefing held at Balaka in the capital on Monday.
He said, "Marking our independence we are optimistic that we will be able to resume our flight operation on the Dhaka-Toronto route. Our preparation is near the final stage in this regard."
To appoint general sales agent and open own office at Toronto Biman representative left Dhaka for Toronto on Sunday.
Meanwhile, as per the civil aviation of Canada, before resuming flight operations to Toronto, the national flag carrier is likely to operate a test flight within the second week of March, added the Biman CEO.
After remaining out of online service for four and a half months, Biman has restored its online passenger service and online ticketing again with the help of Sabre (the Company that provides IT solutions).
State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali inaugurated Biman’s Passenger Service Solution and online ticketing service. Secretary of the ministry Md Mokammel Hossain, Biman Chairman Sajjadul Hasan and directors were present, among others, on the occasion.
State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali said, “Due to some unavoidable circumstances we were out of online service for four and a half months. But from now we are resuming our online passenger service and ticketing system through which Biman will be more passenger-friendly.”
Biman had a website where ticketing system was included but the online ticketing system was removed in August last due to a system upgrade.
