Biman operates flight on Toronto route

Dhaka-NY flight in due course

Biman has successfully launched its flight on Dhaka-Toronto route and flight will be launched on Dhaka-New York route in due course.

In this regard the authority concerned has come a long way. Biman's flights will also be launched on Narita, Male, Sydney, Chennai and Colombo routes.

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali made the remarks at a function organized by Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Bangladesh High Commission in Canada on the occasion of launching Dhaka-Toronto flight at Marriott Hotel in downtown Toronto on Sunday night.

He said, "The dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was that Biman would represent Bangladesh with pride all over the world. Therefore, Biman's route is being expanded as per the instructions of the prime minister. It was an honour for us to launch direct flights to Canada. Many of the world's largest airlines do not have flight slots in Toronto."

The state minister said, "We have launched the flight to Canada on the instructions of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Biman will operate flight three days a week from June. This flight will be profitable. With the help of Bangladeshi expatriates in Canada, we can start daily flights every week in the future." 

Mahbub Ali said, "We will be able to inaugurate the 3rd terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by mid-September, 2023. This terminal will be of international standard. Cox's Bazar Airport is also being upgraded to international standards to promote tourism in the international market."

Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, RM Ubaidul Moktadir Chowdhury, said that Biman is moving towards improvement. The launch of Toronto Flight will further enhance the friendly relations between the two countries.

Bangladesh High Commissioner to Canada Khalilur Rahman said that the Biman’s activities should be monitored for profit on this route. On the positive side, many countries have not yet been able to launch flights to Canada. But, we are proud we were able to turn.
