Japan-Bangladesh Chamber elects new board of directors

Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Naoki Ito on Sunday stressed further development of infrastructure, Big B concept, connectivity of Bay of Bengal area and development of soft infrastructure to enhance the business relationship between Bangladesh and Japan.

 He further laid due emphasize on ease of doing business index, setting up Araihazar Economic zone on time, human resource development and to initiate new framework of trade that is Free Trade Agreement( FTA) or Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA))between Bangladesh and Japan.  

The Japanese envoy was addressing the charge handing-over and taking-over ceremony of the new office bearers of Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JBCCI) as chief guest at Six Season Hotel Dhaka. 

He mentioned that the JBCCI should concentrate on the above mentioned areasto enhance the business relationship between Bangladesh and Japan, also to fulfill the vision 2041 for Bangladesh to become a developed nation: 

Khondker M Talha, Director General (East Asia & Pacific Wing), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh attended the event as a special guest. 

Addressing the event he mentioned about the strategic partnership with Japan through which 14 megaprojects are currently getting implemented. 

He also mentioned that through Public Private Economic Dialogue (PPED), Bangladesh government has resolved many problems of the Japanese investors on a priority basis.  

The newly elected President, JBCCI, also the Chairman of Crown Navigation Co. (Pvt.) Ltd Asif A Chowdhury, Directors and outgoing President, also the Chief Country Representative of JETRO Dhaka Office, Yuji Ando, new Secretary General of JBCCI also the Managing Director of NewVision Solutions Ltd., Tareq Rafi Bhuiyan (Jun)also addressed the event among others. 

While addressing, AsifChowdhury thanked the outgoing president Yuji Ando for his enormous contribution to JBCCI during his tenure. He also laid out his vision for the JBCCI during his tenure as president. Earlier, theelection was held on 22nd February to elect the board of directors. The new board consists of the following elected officials for the two years term till October, 2022:

The newly elected office bearers of JBCCI are President-Asif A Chowdhury, Vice Presidents- Md. SharifulAlamand M JalalulHai, Secretary General-Tareq Rafi Bhuiyan (Jun), Treasure-Takeshi Hashimoto.

The newly elected Directors of the body are Yuji Ando,Dr. Kabir Ahmed, Tadaoki Watanabe, NurulWahab, Takashi Miyata, Syed SamiulHuq and Tetsuro Kano. The newly elected president AsifChowdhury is the Managing Director and CEO of Chowdhury Group and he is also the Honorary Consul of Chile in Bangladesh. Tareq Rafi Bhuiyan (Jun) has been re-elected as the Secretary General for the third time.
