BERC announces LPG new price today

Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) announces a new price for LPG for March at 3 pm today, Sunday. For the past seven months, LPG prices have been raised steadily by the BERC.

Despite this, the price of LPG on the global market is unchanged from the previous month. This suggests that prices in Bangladesh might not go up.

A circular released on February 29th by the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) states that the cost of a 12-kg cylinder will go down in March 2024, but the cost of 4.5-kg cylinders, bulk, and autogas will stay the same.

According to the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) circular on Thursday February 29th, containing this announcement regarding the price adjustment of private LPG at the consumer level for this month in accordance with the Saudi CP for the month of March 2024 that Saudi Aramco announced. The circular is

 signed by Barrister Md Khalilur Rahman Khan, Secretary of BERC.

Following the most recent modification by February, customers are required to pay an extra Tk 41 for each 12 kg cylinder, increasing the cost from Tk 1,433 to Tk 1,474. Compared to December, the price of a 12 kg cylinder has increased by Tk 41 to Tk 1,474 in January. And on January 2, BERC increased the price of 12 kg of cylinder gas by 29 taka to 1 thousand 433 taka.

City dwellers express concerns with price increases occurring for the seventh straight month, consumers who are struggling to keep up with rising living expenses are in a terrible situation.

At the same time, BERC also increased the price of gasoline in February. In the month of February, the price of autogas at the consumer level was fixed at 67 taka 68 paisa per litre. And last January, which was fixed at 65 taka 67 paisa per liter, including VAT.

Note that in 2023, the price of LPG and autogas decreased by 5 points and increased by 7 points. The prices of LPG and gasoline decreased in January, March, April, June, and July last year. And prices increased in February, May, August, September, October, November, and December.
