Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) observes the ‘Amar Ekushey’, the Language Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day 2020 with profound respect and solemnity on Friday. Various programs also chalked out marking the day.
The day’s programs started with placing wreaths at the Institute’s Shaheed Minar to pay the homage to the martyrs at one minute past midnight which is led by BARI Director General Dr. Md. Abdul Wohab with other directors, scientists, officers, employees, workers and representative of various organizations.
At 6:29 am, the national flag was hoisted half-mast. At 6:35 am, BARI scientists, officials, employees, workers, labors and representative of various organizations participated in a probhat ferry paying homage to the language martyrs. A discussion meeting also held on ‘Amar Ekushey’, the Language Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day. BARI Director General Dr. Md. Abdul Wohab and the directors of the Institute, President of BARISA, General Secretary of BARIKA and General Secretary of the BARI Soromik Club spoke in the discussion meeting.
A cultural program was also organized in the spirit of Ekushey with the participation of the student of Anando Shishu Kanan and BARI High School. Special prayers were held after the Johr prayer at BARI Central Mosque for the forgiveness of the souls of the martyrs and the happiness, peace and prosperity of the country.
