Banglalink, has acquired 4.4 MHz spectrum in 1800 MHz band and 5 MHz spectrum in 2100 MHz band following successful bidsat an auction organizedby the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).
The newly acquired spectrum will help Banglalink increase its total spectrum holding from 30.6 MHz to 40 MHz, enabling it to retain the top position among all private operators in Bangladesh in terms of the amount of spectrum provided per subscriber. Banglalink will have to invest around BDT1000crore to purchase the spectrum, which is one of thelargest investments made by an operator in the country in recent times.

Banglalink also purchased a total of 10.6 MHz spectrum at an auction held in 2018, which was the highest amount of spectrum sold to a participatingoperator that time. Recently, Banglalink hasbeen declared as the fastest mobile network in the country by Ookla®for its mobile network performance during H1-H2 2020. The increased spectrum holding will enable Banglalink to maintain network superiority and bolster its efforts for nationwide 4G expansion.
