Bangladesh zoom past Nepal in SAFF U-16 Women’s Champs

Bangladesh striker Sauravi Amanda Prity scored two goals in the first half in the SAFF U-16 women Football Championship at the ANFA Complex Stadium, Nepal on Saturday. The Young Red and Green won their first encounter against host Nepal and secured full three points. 

Prity opened the scoring at the 23rd minute with a superb placing of shot on a through-ball. She scored her and teams second goal on the 29th minutes with a spot-kick.  

Skipper Orpita Biswas sides dominated the 90 minutes of the match. The women in Red and Green got a lot of chance to score but the Nepalese defender resisted their attack. 

The skipper hopes her team will win against mighty India. The young Red and Green became champions of this event in the inaugural edition in 2017 beating India by 1-0 at Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Shipahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium, Kamalapur  and runners-up three times, will take on favourites India

 in their next match on March 5.

“Winning the first match is very important in this format of the tournament. Winning the match means one step closer to the final,” Bangladesh head coach Saiful Bari Titu said after the match at the venue. 

Bangladesh’s right winger Sathi said, “Team’s preparation was very good and all the players were also in good shape. We played in a planned way. For that reason we win the match.”

India had opened their account with a 7-0 thrashing of Bhutan in the opening match on Friday.

The top two teams from the round-robin stage will qualify for the final, which will be held on March 10.

All the matches will be held at the same venue.
