Bangladesh has moved forward by 27 steps in the National Cyber Security Index (NCSI) of Estonia-based e-Governance Academy Foundation. Bangladesh ranked first among the SAARC countries with a score of 59.74.
Bangladesh has risen to 38th position in the index, which is based on the cyber security and digital development situation of 160 countries in the world. Bangladesh has been ranked 65th in the index of December 2020.
Project Director of BGD e-GOV CIRT, Tarique M Barkatullah, who has been working on cyber security of Bangladesh government, said, “Bangladesh's capability in cyber security is increasing day by day, which is gaining recognition in the international arena. The BGD e-Govt CIRT is working tirelessly on cyber security. Such recognition will encourage us to resist cyber-attacks and help increase Bangladesh's capability in cyber security.”
The National Cyber Security Index (NCSI) is created to assess cyber incidents, crime, and major crisis management activities and prevent basic cyber-attacks by being prepared.
Greece is in the first position with a score of 96.10 in the latest index published on the NCSI website. The Czech Republic and Estonia with a score of 92.21 and 90.91, respectively, are in second and third place.
The United States secured 17th position in the index, while the United Kingdom secured the 19th. Among the top 20 countries, Singapore, Asia's only representative at 16th, Sri Lanka at 69th, and Pakistan is at the 70th position.
Bangladesh ranked first in South Asia with a score of 59.74 in the index. India ranked 39th position in the index.
