Bangladesh finds record 4,000 virus cases in a day

The number of new patients of Covid-19 continues to rise in Bangladesh with the fatalities.
The health department on Wednesday confirmed 4,008 new cases, which is the highest in a day so far, and 43 deaths in the last 24 hours till 8am. Some 1,925 patients were released from hospitals during the period.

With that, the death toll from the deadly virus rose to 1,305, total infections stood at 98,489 and recoveries rose to 38,189.
Additional director general for health Prof Nasima Sultana said they had tested 17,527 samples were tested in 59 labs across the country during the period. Compare with that, the infection rate has been 22.87 percent.

According to the latest data by DGHS, 38.77 percent coronavirus infected patients have recovered and 1.33 percent died.
Among the latest dead patients, 28 were men and 15 women.

Of them, 21 were from Dhaka, 12 from Chattogram, two each from Khulna and Mymensingh and one each from Sylhet and Rangpur.

Twenty-seven patients died in different hospitals, 15 at their homes and one was diagnosed with the infection after death.
Currently, 62,490 people are quarantined across the country – including 3,041 newly-quarantined individuals.
A total of 267,330 people have completed their quarantine course.

The authorities placed 718 new individuals suspected of having Covid-19 into isolation, bringing the total to 10,752 after 6,445 left.

People have been asked to wear masks in public places and maintain physical distancing apart from washing hands with soap to prevent the spread of the virus.

People have also been asked not to touch mouth, nose and eyes with unclear hands.
When someone, who has COVID-19, coughs or exhales they release droplets of infected fluid.

Most of these droplets fall on nearby surfaces and objects - such as desks, tables or telephones.
People could catch COVID-19 by touching contaminated surfaces or objects – and then touching their eyes, nose or mouth.
